I was born and reared in the mountains of West Virginia. I have a strong and enduring faith in God our Shepherd that flavors everything I do and say, a deep and abiding love for West Virginia and its beauty, and an even deeper respect for the wisdom of the mountain people. Story telling has always been a big part of my life as a native West Virginian. As a direct descendant of many winners of a state wide story tellers competition called the annual Liar's Contest, story telling has been a way of passing down our history through the generations. Some of the stories told in my books, are ones I have heard directly from the descendants of those who fought in the early stages of the Civil War. It is my hope, that by getting these stories in print, they may become known outside our community, and remembered by others as well. I am married with two children, four Grandchildren, and too many dogs. I have a Masters in Communications from West Virginia University and a degree in Music Education from Fairmont University.
